Commercio ancora fiacco, ad aprile le vendite scendono dello 0,4%


In aprile il commercio al dettaglio torna a scendere, dando seguito alla stagnazione fatta registrare a marzo e rimandando ulteriormente il ritorno ai livelli pre-Covid. Martedì 8 giugno Istat ha pubblicato la nota relativa all'andamento del commercio al dettaglio del mese di aprile 2021, fotografando lo stato delle vendite ai consumatori italiani. Ciò che emerge è tutt'altro che positivo. Nel mese di aprile 2021 le vendite al dettaglio si sono contratte dello 0,4% rispetto al mese di marzo. Una riduzione figlia di due componenti opposte. Da una parte le vendite di beni alimentari, cui domanda è tradizionalmente più rigida, sono incrementate dell'1,0%. Dall'altra i beni non alimentari, che hanno perso l'1,5% in valore rispetto a marzo. La situazione si ribalta guardando al trimestre febbraio-aprile 2021, nel quale le vendite sono complessivamente aumentate del 4,3% grazie ad un +8,6% dei beni non alimentari (recupero dopo la caduta di fine 2020) e un -0,7% dei beni alimentari (appunto meno volatili e più rigidi nella domanda dei consumatori). Impressionante, per quanto poco indicativo del trend di breve termine, è il confronto con il mese di aprile 2020: rispetto al mese in cui il lockdown bloccò le attività produttive e costrinse la popolazione italiana in casa, le vendite sono aumentate del 30,4% compressivamente, soprattutto grazie ai beni non alimentari (+83,0%) visto che il consumo di beni alimentari è rimasto pressoché costante (+0,6%). Non tutte le categorie di esercizi commerciali si sono però riprese con le stesse modalità. Nel periodo gennaio-aprile 2021 la grande distribuzione ha registrato vendite per un valore superiore a quelle dello stesso periodo del 2020 del 6,9% (+1,5% alimentari e +22,0%). Le imprese operanti su piccole superfici hanno complessivamente mostrato un incremento delle vendite del 7,8% ma la vendita di beni alimentari risulta ancora del 3,2% inferiore rispetto ai primi quattro mesi del 2020. Il commercio elettronico registra il solito poderoso incremento, pari al 37,2% sul 2020. Nelle serie storiche allegate al rapporto, Istat riporta una interessante tabella riguardante l'andamento delle vendite del commercio al dettaglio in base alla dimensione e alla tipologia di esercizio. Stando ai dati in essa contenuti emerge che ad aprile 2021 il valore delle vendite della grande distribuzione sia cresciuto del 3,3% rispetto al 2015, a fronte di un crollo del 18,1% degli esercizi operanti su piccole superfici. Non solo. La grande distribuzione di beni alimentari è cresciuta del 15,1%, quella dei non alimentari è scesa del 17,3%. Per quanto riguarda gli esercizi operanti su piccole superfici le vendite di beni alimentari sono scese del 5,5%, quelle di beni non alimentari addirittura del 21,8%. Questo notevole declino nella categoria non alimentare può essere spiegato in parte con il boom del commercio elettronico, ad aprile 2021 il 51,3% sopra il 2015. "Ad aprile 2021 emerge un lieve ripiegamento congiunturale delle vendite al dettaglio che segue la stagnazione del mese precedente. Negli ultimi due mesi il risultato congiunturale complessivo è stato sostenuto dall'andamento positivo del comparto alimentare, mentre quello dei beni non alimentari ha contribuito negativamente. Il fortissimo incremento tendenziale che si osserva per quasi tutti gli aggregati è ovviamente il risultato del confronto con le vendite di un mese, l'aprile dello scorso anno, caratterizzato dalle estese chiusure dovute alle misure di contrasto all'emergenza sanitaria", il commento dell'Istat ai dati.
