Il 2020 ha devastato la produzione industriale: Istat certifica un -11,4% rispetto al 2019


Con la caduta dello 0,2% di dicembre l'Italia nel 2020 registra un -11,4% complessivo nella produzione industriale: si tratta del secondo peggior risultato dall'inizio delle statistiche dopo la crisi del 2009. Con il rapporto pubblicato martedì 9 febbraio Istat ha chiuso ufficialmente la serie di pubblicazioni relative alla produzione industriale italiana nel 2020. Un rapporto che, purtroppo, riporta ancora un segno meno in termini congiunturali (oltre che tendenziali) e dedica ampio spazio anche ad un confronto con l'andamento degli ultimi trent'anni. Stando alla rilevazione dell'Istat, l'indice della produzione industriale italiana ha registrato una caduta dello 0,2% nel mese di dicembre rispetto a novembre 2020, che porta ad un -0,8% nel quarto trimestre rispetto al terzo trimestre. Se l'energia (+1,8%) e i beni intermedi (+1,0%) risollevano il bilancio, beni strumentali (-0,8%) e beni di consumo (-0,3%) riportano l'asticella in territorio negativo. Spostandosi sul tendenziale i dati chiaramente peggiorano, figli di un 2020 segnato dalla pandemia e dalle restrizioni. A dicembre 2020 la produzione industriale si è assestata il 2,0% sotto i livelli di dicembre 2019. Colpisce in particolare la caduta nei beni di consumo, pari al 9,8%. Il settore maggiormente colpito resta l'industria tessile, dell'abbigliamento, delle pelli e degli accessori con un -28,5% rispetto al 2019. Seguono il settore del coke e dei prodotti petroliferi raffinati con -16,5%, quello dei prodotti farmaceutici con -10,9%, quindi l'industria del legno, della carta e della stampa con -6,9% e l'alimentare con -5,1%. Riescono a chiudere dicembre 2020 con un risultato migliore rispetto al 2019 solo una manciata di categorie: gli articoli in gomma e materie plastiche (+10,9%), i prodotti chimici (+7,5%), le apparecchiature elettriche (+6,8%) e la metallurgia (+6,2%). Il risultato complessivo del 2020 per la produzione industriale italiana si presenta come il secondo peggiore dall'inizio della serie storica (1991). Registra l'Istat: "Il 2020 si chiude con una diminuzione rispetto all'anno precedente dell'11,4%, il secondo peggior risultato dall'inizio della serie storica (che parte dal 1990), dopo la caduta registrata nel 2009". Continua nel suo commento: "Il progressivo recupero dopo il crollo di marzo e aprile ha subito una battuta d'arresto nei mesi recenti, impedendo il ritorno ai livelli produttivi precedenti l'emergenza sanitaria: nella media del quarto trimestre l'indice destagionalizzato è, infatti, ancora inferiore del 3,1% rispetto a febbraio 2020". La crisi economica legata al Covid-19 ha peggiorato la stagnazione cronica della produzione industriale italiana. Istat riporta in un grafico l'andamento dell'indice negli ultimi trent'anni, dimostrando come la produzione del 2020 si trovi circa il 10% sotto i livelli registrati nel 1991. Negli ultimi anni l'Italia era riuscita a recuperare il gap con l'inizio degli anni '90, restando però nel 2017 comunque circa il 20% sotto i livelli del 2007. Nel 2020 la distanza si è ovviamente ampliata, portando la produzione industriale ad un livello di circa il 30% inferiore rispetto a quello registrato prima della crisi del 2008. Sottolinea Istat: "Va peraltro rilevata la più marcata asimmetria in termini di durata delle fasi cicliche che ha caratterizzato l'area euro, ove, rispetto all'Italia, le espansioni sono state ben più prolungate delle fasi recessive (48,2 mesi versus 16,2 mesi) rispetto a quanto è avvenuto in Italia (25,3 mesi versus 20,8 mesi). In termini di crescita registrata nei periodi di ripresa, la produzione industriale ha segnato in Italia un incremento medio pari a +10,8%, di quasi cinque punti inferiore a quella dell'area Eu19 (+15,6%)".
